Anselmo Mendes is one of the most important contemporary Portuguese white wine producers and one of the greatest specialists in the Alvarinho variety. His work is particularly associated with Monção e Melgaço, the historic centre of Alvarinho, but Mendes strives to show with his wines how many different expressions of this variety can be created – from fresh and aromatic to textured, mature and long-developing wines. Parcela Única is a single-vineyard wine, so not only the variety itself but also the specific location is important here. The wine is produced in small quantities, and its style is based on elegance, complexity, and longevity. In Mendes' winemaking, traditional methods, such as long ageing on lees, are combined with extremely precise work in the cellar.
