About the manufacturer
Benanti is one of Etna's most important and respected winemaking families, founded by Giuseppe Benanti in 1988 in the village of Viagrande on the eastern coast of Sicily. Giuseppe Benanti was one of the first to see Etna's potential to produce not mass-market Sicilian wines, but elegant, terroir-driven wines capable of competing with Italy's best regions. The winery pays great attention to local Etna varieties – Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, and Carricante. The vineyards are located on different slopes of Etna – north, southeast, and southwest, at an altitude of approximately 450–900 meters, on sandy volcanic soils rich in minerals.
