The aroma is dominated by red berries – cherries, raspberries, strawberries – along with vanilla, caramel, coffee, brioche, and light spice notes. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, very well-balanced, with soft, round tannins and lively acidity. The finish is long, clean, and elegant, with hints of vanilla and toasted oak.
About the manufacturer
La Rioja Alta is one of Rioja's most prestigious and traditional wineries, founded in 1890 in Haro. It belongs to the so-called "classic Rioja style," where the most important aspect is long and carefully controlled aging in oak barrels, followed by further aging in the bottle.
The winery is renowned for its extremely precise work with oak – barrels are either made in-house or under strict control, and the wine is regularly decanted by hand. The philosophy is based on the idea that Rioja wine should not only be fruity but also evolve over time: from fresh red berries to complex layers of vanilla, spice, and tobacco. Viña Alberdi is one of their "lightest" Reserva-style wines, yet it still retains the classic Rioja structure and potential for longevity.
