Marc Kent's philosophy is based on the idea that wine should be an expression of the place, climate, and history of the vineyards, yet at the same time bold, modern, and emotional. He was one of the first in South Africa to purposefully work with various regions (Swartland, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek), aiming to create complex, layered blends where different grape varieties and terroirs complement each other. His most iconic creation, "The Chocolate Block," became a symbol of this philosophy: it is a wine that combines concentration, spice, dark fruit, and textural elegance. Today, Boekenhoutskloof is considered one of the most influential New World wineries, renowned not only for its high quality but also for its ability to constantly evolve while maintaining a clear identity and a strong connection to the South African wine revolution.
