Vintages in the Dolcetto zones were favorable – sunny days provided ripening aromas to the grapes, while cool night temperatures helped maintain fresh acidity and fruit purity. Dolcetto, as a grape, typically ripens early and yields aromatic, softly fruity wines without heavy tannic pressure. Lotti Sparsi Cuvée 000 is an interpretation of Dolcetto with a richer profile: the aroma is dominated by red cherries, black plums, and red currants, along with hints of herbs, black pepper, and light earthy notes. On the palate, the wine is dry, medium-bodied, with soft tannins and a clear fruit line that provides a good balance between acidity and a sweetly fruity profile. The finish is pleasant, fruitily refreshing, and lightly extends the aromatic elements.

About the manufacturer

Borgogno is one of the oldest Barolo houses – the winery was founded in 1761 in the village of Barolo and over two and a half centuries has become one of the classic symbols of Piedmont. In the 19th century, Borgogno already supplied wine to the Italian royal court and was one of the first to systematically bottle Barolo in its cellars, thus shaping the region's identity. The winery is historically associated with the traditional Barolo school – long aging in large oak barrels (botti), patience, and the belief that wine must develop for decades. In the 20th century, Borgogno maintained its classic style even when a wave of modernism began in the region, becoming a kind of bastion of tradition. The name "Rivata" is associated with one of the historical vineyard plots in the Barolo zone belonging to this family. Today, Borgogno is considered an iconic, historically important winery that helped shape what the world understands as classic Barolo – a structured, long-lived, and terroir-expressive wine.
