This is an intense, dark, and highly concentrated Petite Sirah with a pronounced black fruit profile – blackberries, black plums, blueberries, and black cherries dominate, along with nuances of pepper, cocoa, toasted oak, and smoke. On the palate, the wine is dry, full-bodied, with firm but mature tannins and a good acid structure that balances its richness.

The crocodile on the label is a symbolic motif of the "Legendary Badge," connected to the legacy of Agoston Haraszthy. Haraszthy was a Hungarian-born pioneer and a trailblazer of Californian winemaking, who founded the Buena Vista Winery in 1857. He was an extremely ambitious and adventurous character, actively expanding vineyards in California and seeking to transfer European winemaking expertise to the New World. His life was full of travels and risks, and his death in Nicaragua in 1869 is associated with a tragic incident near a river, where he may have fallen victim to crocodiles – this story became a legend, reinforcing his image as a "wild visionary."

About the manufacturer

Buena Vista is one of California's oldest wineries, founded in 1857 by Agoston Haraszthy – a Hungarian-born adventurer, visionary, and often called the "Father of California Viticulture." He was the first to systematically expand vineyards in California, imported thousands of European vine varieties, and tried to create a serious, structured wine culture in a region that was still developing at the time. Haraszthy's idea was ambitious – to transform California into a world-class wine region, and Buena Vista became a symbol of his vision.
Today, Buena Vista is a blend of historic tradition and modern California winemaking. The winery aims to preserve the classic Napa and Sonoma fruitiness – ripe, rich, distinctly expressed – but with a contemporary balance, cleaner structure, and better tannin integration. Great attention is paid to aging in French oak barrels, which adds depth and complexity to the wines without overpowering the fruit.
