The aroma reveals a highly concentrated and youthfully powerful profile – black cherry, blackberry, plum, and blackcurrant dominate, layered over rich nuances of dark chocolate, cocoa, black tea, and subtle spices and violet blossoms. On the palate, it is full-bodied, dense, and "chewy," with a powerful yet still young structure: ripe but firm tannins provide the wine's backbone, while the natural residual sweetness is balanced by bright acidity, preventing the wine from becoming heavy. Black fruits, chocolate, and spices dominate the taste, with a mineral, slightly graphite-like undertone adding depth. The finish is very long, intense, and almost "explosive," with a lingering wave of dark fruits and cocoa.

Vintage Port is the highest category of Port wine – it is made only from the harvest of the best years, which are declared a "vintage year." Unlike Tawny Port, it is not aged for a long time in oak but is bottled relatively young, where all further aging takes place over decades. As a result, Vintage Port is characterized by exceptional concentration, power, a very high structure, and enormous aging potential – when young, it is dark, tannic, and intense, but with time it transforms into a complex wine with the elegance of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

About the manufacturer

Bulas is a traditional Port wine producer located in the heart of the Douro Valley, one of Europe's most dramatic and ancient wine landscapes. The company's philosophy is based on the classic heritage of the Douro region: grapes are grown on steep slate slopes, where work is often done by hand, and yields are deliberately limited to achieve maximum concentration and aromatic power. Bulas adheres to the traditional method of Port production – fermentation is shortened as soon as the desired balance is reached and fortified with neutral grape spirit (aguardente), thus preserving the natural sweetness of the fruit. The wines are then aged in oak barrels or in bottle, depending on the style – from young Ruby to long-aged Vintage Port. Special attention is paid to the Vintage Port category, which reflects the best harvests and is considered the highest expression of Port wine. This winery maintains a classic, minimally modernized approach to Port production, where location, climate, and time are paramount. Bulas wines reflect the essence of the Douro Valley – power, structure, and the ability to age for a long time, transforming from youthful concentration into complex, elegant maturity.
