The aroma reveals bright red berries: cherries, raspberries, pomegranates, along with violets, dried herbs, and a subtle smoky, "volcanic" minerality. On the palate, the wine is light-to-medium-bodied, very lively and elegant, with fresh acidity and fine, slightly grainy tannins. The taste is dominated by sour cherries, red currants, citrus peel, and a light earthy spice, typical of Nerello Mascalese from volcanic soils.
About the manufacturer
Cantina Orsogna is a large Abruzzo cooperative located near the Maiella mountains and the Adriatic Sea. It is one of Italy's strongest wineries in the organic and biodynamic movement – a large part of its production is certified organic or biodynamic, with Demeter certifications. Their philosophy is very clear: as little chemistry as possible, as much of nature's voice as possible. The vineyards are maintained sustainably, and the wine style is focused on simplicity, transparency, and expression of place.
