The year 2023 in the Tagus region was characterized by warm and sunny weather, allowing the grapes to fully ripen, while maintaining the characteristic acidity of the region. The grapes were hand-harvested from vines growing in sandy soils. After pressing, fermentation took place at a controlled temperature, partly in oak barrels, in order to give the wine structure and complexity.
The wine has a light straw yellow color. The aroma is dominated by notes of citrus fruits, vanilla, orange peel and spices. The taste reveals creaminess, well-integrated acidity and a subtle oak influence, giving the wine elegance and a long aftertaste.

About the manufacturer

Casal da Coelheira is a family-run farm founded in 1986 in the village of Tramagal, in a bend of the Tagus River, north of Lisbon. The name, meaning “place where hares are born”, comes from the abundance of wild animals that still thrive in this part of the landscape. The farm consists of around 64 hectares of vineyards spread over sandy chernet soils, shaped by temperate climate conditions of hot, long summers and cold, wet winters. This environment requires hardy vines with less foliage, but allows for the production of intensely fruitful berries with excellent concentration.
Terroir, varieties and wine style. Casal da Coelheira cultivates both traditional Portuguese varieties—Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Fernão Pires, Arinto—but also selected international variants, such as Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon or Alicante Bouschet, adapted to the local soil and climate.
