The aroma opens with yellow apples, Mirabelle plums, citrus zest, and ripe peaches, complemented by notes of beeswax, brioche, toasted bread, smoke, and sweet spices. Oak subtly integrates into the aromatic profile, adding additional depth. The taste is dry, extremely concentrated, and creamy, with fine, silky bubbles. Notes of citrus, yellow apples, ripe plums, buttery buns, and toasted nuts are present. Chalky minerality provides tension and freshness, while the finish is long, elegant, and harmonious, with subtle woody notes.

About the manufacturer

The history of Champagne Jean Velut began in the 1960s when Jean Velut and his wife Huguette lost their farmland due to the expansion of the city of Troyes. The family moved to the village of Montgueux and began planting vineyards there. The first harvest was only 639 kg, but today the family owns about 7.5 hectares of vineyards in one of Champagne's most interesting Chardonnay terroirs. The winery is now run by Denis Velut together with his son Benoît Velut, continuing the family's philosophy of creating elegant Champagnes that reflect the character of the terroir. Montgueux is distinguished by its deep chalky soil and southeastern exposure, which gives Chardonnay unusual ripeness while maintaining a bright mineral tension.
