The aroma opens with white peaches, Mirabelle plums, candied lemon, and yellow apples, complemented by toasted hazelnuts, almonds, brioche, wheat, sweet pollen, and white floral notes. In the background, there is a distinct minerality of chalk, iodine, and wet stone. The taste is extremely concentrated, silky, and precise, with incredibly fine bubbles and vibrant acidity. Candied citrus, white stone fruits, ripe apples, toasted nuts, and subtle spice notes are discernible. The finish is extremely long, saline, and mineral, with an elegant chalk note that gives the wine exceptional structure and immense aging potential.

Cristal was created in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II of Russia and remains Louis Roederer's most famous cuvée to this day. It is produced only from the finest Grand Cru vineyards and only in exceptional vintage years. The 2015 vintage was characterized by an extremely warm summer, but late August rains restored freshness to the grapes, making Cristal 2015 stand out not for its sunny ripeness, but for its expressive chalky minerality, elegance, and exceptional longevity.

About the manufacturer

Louis Roederer was founded in 1776, but the winery's true identity was forged when Louis Roederer took over in 1833. He was one of the first Champagne winemakers to understand that the greatest influence on champagne quality was not the cellar, but the vineyard. Instead of buying grapes from growers, he began acquiring the best Grand Cru plots, thus laying the foundation for the philosophy that guides the winery to this day.
Today, the winery is managed by Frédéric Rouzaud, a seventh-generation family member, while the legendary cellar master Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, one of the most respected winemakers in Champagne, is responsible for creating the champagnes. Lécaillon believes that the best wine is born from living soil, and thus was one of the first in the region to widely adopt biodynamic winemaking. His goal is not to create powerful or technologically perfect champagnes, but to convey the character of each vineyard as accurately as possible. Due to this approach, Louis Roederer is today considered one of the most progressive and respected Champagne houses, and Cristal – one of the greatest benchmarks in the world of champagne.
