A classic, elegant Sauternes-style sweet wine from Bordeaux, located in the Barsac-Sauternes area, where morning mists from the Ciron River create ideal conditions for noble rot Botrytis cinerea . The 2014 year in the Sauternes region was very good – cooler but long, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and harmoniously, maintaining excellent acidity, which gives this wine freshness and balance. The aroma reveals dried apricots, peaches, honey, orange peel and soft floral notes, with a light spice in the background. In the mouth, the wine is rich, velvety, but not too heavy – the sweetness is balanced by fresh acidity, so it feels elegant, clean and has a long, honey and citrus nuances aftertaste.

About the manufacturer

Château Bastor-Lamontagne is one of the oldest and most respected Sauternes houses, with a history dating back to the 18th century. This 1er Cru Classé estate is located in the heart of Sauternes. Bastor-Lamontagne has always been famous for its classic, very clean and elegant Sauternes style – the aim here is not excessive sweetness, but a balance between sweetness, acidity and expression of terroir. The farm pays great attention to sustainable vineyard management, manual harvesting in several stages (tries), allowing only ideally botrytized berries to be selected. This is a house that represents the “old school” Sauternes – refined, long-lasting, delicate, but with inner strength and a clear Bordeaux aristocratic character.
