The wine has the classic Pomerol style characteristics — the aroma is dominated by notes of ripe black and red berries: plums, currants and cherries, along with subtle hints of herbs, spices and tobacco that add additional depth. In the mouth, the wine is full-bodied, with soft but expressive tannins and acidity that provides balance and structure. The taste is fruity, elegant and well-balanced, with a long aftertaste.

About the manufacturer
A winery in the Bordeaux region, in the prestigious Pomerol appellation, renowned for producing some of the best red wines of the right-hand Bordeaux. It is a small but very characteristic estate whose history began when Catherine Péré-Vergé bought it in 1985 — it was her first winery in the Pomerol region. She merged several smaller wineries (such as Bellevue-Montviel and La Croix des Templiers) into one, thus creating Château Montviel, and began producing wines focused on high-quality Grand Vin from a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Thanks to this beginning, Montviel quickly earned a reputation in the Pomerol environment.
After Catherine Pere-Vergé’s death in 2013, the estate was taken over by her son Henri Parent, who continues the family vision and nurtures Montviel as a distinct, distinctive expression of Pomerol. The producer works his vineyards with respect for the terroir.
