2020 was a warm and concentrated vintage in the Willamette Valley, although yields were lower in some areas. The Eola-Amity Hills sub-region, influenced by cool Pacific winds, helped maintain acidity and balance. The aroma reveals yellow apple, pear, lemon zest, white peach, as well as notes of hazelnut, brioche, and a subtle butteriness. On the palate, the wine is dry, medium-to-full-bodied, with a creamy texture and bright, structured acidity. A mineral note and subtle oak spice contribute to a longer, elegant finish.
About the manufacturer
Cristom Vineyards was founded in 1992 by the Paul Gerrie family and is one of the most important wineries in Eola-Amity Hills. The name is derived from the first names of family members (Christine and Tom). Cristom is renowned for its respect for terroir and meticulous work with individual vineyards. The estate applies sustainable and biodynamic principles, with a strong emphasis on manual labor in the vineyards and natural balance. Long-time winemaker Steve Doerner, with experience in California and Burgundy, shaped Cristom's style – elegant, structured, and long-lived. His philosophy is based on minimal intervention, natural fermentations, and respect for the local character. The goal is to create wines that clearly reflect the windy, volcanic origins of Eola-Amity Hills and maintain a balance between power and refinement.
