The aroma opens with cherries, plums, dried roses, and violets, complemented by notes of tobacco, licorice, cocoa, sandalwood, and subtle leather. In the glass, the wine gradually unfolds, gaining even more complexity. The taste is dry, exceptionally elegant, and concentrated. Cherries, red plums, licorice, dark chocolate, truffles, and light spice notes are discernible. The tannins are firm yet silky and perfectly integrated, while bright acidity gives the wine energy. The finish is exceptionally long, mineral, and harmonious, revealing the classic Cannubi character.

About the manufacturer

Damilano is one of the oldest Barolo wineries, established in 1890 when Giuseppe Borgogno started cultivating grapes in the Barolo region. In 1997, the winery was taken over by the Damilano family, who today own some of the most valuable Barolo crus – Cannubi, Brunate, Cerequio, Liste, and Ravera. The family's philosophy is based on respect for historical vineyards, meticulous work in the vineyard, and a combination of traditional and modern winemaking, allowing for the precise expression of each cru's uniqueness. Cannubi is considered the most famous and historically significant Barolo cru. Due to its unique ratio of sand, silt, and clay, wines born here are distinguished not by power, but by elegance, depth of aromas, and extraordinary longevity. The 2016 vintage is considered one of the best of the 21st century – it features an ideal balance between ripeness, freshness, and tannin structure, giving this wine the potential to age for several decades.
