The 2017 vintage in the Apalta Valley was extreme – a very dry winter and a hot summer, with significant temperature fluctuations later in the season. These conditions resulted in highly concentrated yet well-balanced grapes, and a cool final ripening stage helped maintain fruit purity and acid structure.

On the nose, the wine is very complex: blackcurrants, blueberries, black cherries, and blackberries intertwine with notes of tobacco, spices, toasted oak, cocoa, and subtle herbs.

On the palate, the wine is dry, full-bodied, with silky, well-integrated tannins and clear yet elegant acidity. The texture is dense but not heavy, and the finish is long, with a progression of dark fruits, spices, and subtle minerality.

About the manufacturer

Domaines Bournet-Lapostolle (Clos Apalta project) is a Chilean wine vision of the French Marnier-Lapostolle family (creators of Grand Marnier), established with the aim of combining French Bordeaux precision with the power and depth of the Chilean Apalta terroir. The winery is located in one of South America's most prestigious regions – the Apalta Valley, renowned for its old, ungrafted vines and natural, dramatic geography. The philosophy here is very clear: biodynamic work in the vineyards, minimal intervention in the cellar, and maximum expression of the terroir. The cellar master and the winemaking team work very much according to the "Bordeaux school" principle – the goal is not to reinvent the wine, but to allow it to naturally express the local structure, depth, and intensity of the climate. "Le Petit Clos" is the second wine of Clos Apalta – it is made from the same vineyards but in different proportions, often including younger vines. This allows it to maintain the elegance and depth of the Clos Apalta style, but with a slightly more accessible, earlier-drinking character.
