Aromas of lemon, green apple, white flowers, with a light nuance of almond and butter. On the palate, the wine is elegant, linear, and mineral, with good acidity and a subtle creamy texture. The 2019 vintage offers a little more maturity and roundness, but the style remains very "clean" and precise.

Cloux is one of the most highly regarded Rully Premier Cru plots, located on the steep calcareous clay slopes of the Côte Chalonnaise region. Due to its altitude and exposure, the Chardonnay here retains a bright acidity while also developing a riper fruitiness than in Chablis. Rully whites are often considered a "bridge" between the freshness of Chablis and the creaminess of Côte de Beaune (Meursault / Puligny).

About the manufacturer

Domaine de Villaine was founded in 1973 in the village of Bouzeron by Aubert de Villaine – co-owner of the legendary Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. Together with his nephew Pierre de Benoist, he sought to restore the prestige that the Aligoté variety had lost in the 20th century. It was thanks to their efforts that Bouzeron became the only appellation in Burgundy dedicated to Aligoté. The winery has been applying organic methods since 1986 and became organically certified in 1997. Its philosophy is based on respect for the terroir, the preservation of ancient Aligoté Doré vines, and minimal intervention in the cellar. Domaine de Villaine is today considered the main ambassador of Bouzeron and one of the most important names in the entire Côte Chalonnaise.
