2018 in Willamette Valley was a warm, stable, and very quality-favorable vintage – a long growing season allowed the Chardonnay to reach full maturity while maintaining balance. Dundee Hills is famous for its volcanic Jory soil – a red, iron-rich clay that gives wines structure and subtle spice. The aroma reveals ripe peach, pear, baked apple, lemon curd, as well as notes of toasted nuts, brioche, and vanilla. On the palate, the wine is dry, full-bodied, with a creamy texture, well-integrated acidity, and clear structure. The oak influence is present but balanced – adding depth and potential for longevity. The finish is long, gently mineral, with hints of butter and citrus.

About the manufacturer
Domaine Serene was founded in 1989 by Ken and Grace Evenstad, who were among the pioneers who believed in the potential of the Dundee Hills to produce world-class Burgundian-style wines in Oregon. The winery is known for its precise work in the vineyards, low yields, and extremely meticulous selection. The Domaine Serene team works with exceptional detail – each vineyard block is fermented separately to preserve the expression of the micro-terroir. Their philosophy is based on structure, concentration, and longevity – their Chardonnay often exhibits more power than most Oregon interpretations, but maintains an acidic balance and elegance. These are wines that can age and develop over many years.
