Alto del Cura represents the highest expression of our estate, produced only in the best harvest years. The grapes are harvested from the highest-altitude plots with calcareous soils, selecting specific sections based on their quality.

The harvest is hand-picked into 14 kg crates, followed by a very careful selection process to ensure that only the highest quality fruit makes it into this exceptional blend. The wine is aged in carefully selected French oak barrels: 50% new and 50% first-use. This approach aims to give the wine complexity and balance, without masking the purity of our terroir.

The wine boasts a rich red color with garnet hues. The aroma reveals notes of forest berries, cherries, and dark fruits, complemented by subtle hints of spice, wood, and violet. On the palate, it is powerful yet elegant – velvety in texture, with harmonious tannins and a bright minerality. The finish is long and lingering.

About the manufacturer

Dominio Basconcillos is a family winery located in the high altitudes of Ribera del Duero, almost 1000 meters above sea level. Founded with the aim of continuing the region's traditions dating back to Benedictine times, it combines history and modernity. The winery manages approximately 50 hectares of contiguous vineyards, cultivated in exceptional calcareous soil with a southern exposure – this gives the wines freshness, minerality, and longevity.
The producer focuses on ecological winemaking – since 2004, all vineyards have been certified organic. Sustainable practices are used, biodiversity is encouraged, and the aim is to minimize human intervention. The vision is to create authentic, terroir-driven wines that combine elegance, modern winemaking, and respect for nature.
