The aroma reveals blackberries, blackcurrants, plums, and ripe cherries, complemented by black pepper, olive tapenade, smoked meat, espresso coffee, dark chocolate, graphite, and subtle vanilla notes. On the palate, the wine is powerful, concentrated, and exceptionally elegant, with silky yet firm tannins, vibrant acidity, and many layers. The finish lingers with black fruits, smoke, roasted coffee, mineral granite notes, and spices. This is one of Guigal's most long-lived wines, capable of aging for 20-30 years or more.

Château d'Ampuis is produced from seven of the best plots in Côte Brune and Côte Blonde. The iron-rich soils of Côte Brune give the wine power and tannins, while the limestone and silica-rich Côte Blonde contribute elegance and aromatic refinement. The combination of these two historic slopes creates one of the most expressive Côte-Rôtie wines.

About the manufacturer

The history of E. Guigal began in 1946 when Étienne Guigal founded the winery in the village of Ampuis in the Rhône Valley. Later, his son Marcel Guigal joined him, transforming the family estate into one of the most famous winemaking names in the world. Today, the third generation – Philippe Guigal – continues the family traditions. Although Guigal is best known for its legendary Côte-Rôtie "La La" wines, their philosophy remains the same across all appellations – from Côtes du Rhône to Gigondas: meticulous work in the vineyard, long aging, and respect for the terroir. Due to consistently high quality, E. Guigal is considered one of the most influential wineries in the Rhône Valley worldwide.
