  • Rhone Valley France

  • Red dry wine, aged in oak barrels

The aroma reveals blackberries, blackcurrants, plums, and cherries, complemented by notes of black pepper, licorice, espresso coffee, smoke, roasted meat, and crushed stone. On the palate, the wine is powerful, concentrated, and rich, yet maintains excellent balance. The tannins are firm but silky, and the taste is dominated by dark fruits, black pepper, cocoa, and mineral notes. The finish is very long, complex, and spicy – this is a classic Hermitage with a maturation potential of 20–30 years.

Hermitage is one of France's most prestigious appellations, covering only about 140 hectares on steep granite slopes above the Rhône River. Warm days and cool nights allow Syrah to achieve exceptional concentration while retaining fresh acidity and distinct minerality. Hermitage wines are considered among the longest-lived in the world.

About the manufacturer

The history of E. Guigal began in 1946 when Étienne Guigal founded the winery in the village of Ampuis in the Rhône Valley. Later, his son Marcel Guigal joined him, transforming the family estate into one of the most famous winemaking names in the world. Today, the third generation – Philippe Guigal – continues the family traditions. Although Guigal is best known for its legendary Côte-Rôtie "La La" wines, their philosophy remains the same across all appellations – from Côtes du Rhône to Gigondas: meticulous work in the vineyard, long aging, and respect for the terroir. Due to consistently high quality, E. Guigal is considered one of the most influential wineries in the Rhône Valley worldwide.
