G.D. Vajra – one of the most prominent modern Barolo wineries, founded in 1972 by Giuseppe Domenico Vajra in the Monforte d'Alba region. The winery's history began with a young winemaker who chose to return to the countryside and create wines based on respect for nature, traditions, and the authentic Piedmontese landscape. Today, the winery is led by Giuseppe's children, Giuseppe, Francesca, and Isidoro Vaira, with Giuseppe Vaira as the head winemaker, continuing his father's philosophy alongside his family. G.D. Vajra stands out with its very distinctive approach – wines are crafted to reveal the character of the terroir rather than impose a specific style. The winery pays great attention to biodiversity, traditional methods, and the natural balance of the vineyards. The Ravera vineyard, located in the Novello commune, is considered one of their most important plots – due to its high altitude and calcareous soil, it imparts exceptional minerality, tension, and longevity to Nebbiolo wines.
