The aroma opens with blackcurrants, blackberries, and cherries, complemented by notes of graphite, cedar, tobacco, Mediterranean herbs, and sweet spices. Cocoa, smoke, and subtle balsamic nuances unfold in the glass. The taste is dry, highly concentrated, and elegant. Blackcurrants, blueberries, cherries, licorice, graphite, and dark chocolate are perceptible. The tannins are extremely fine and silky, yet firm, and the refreshing acidity gives the wine energy and precision. The finish is long, mineral, with notes of iron, tobacco, and Mediterranean herbs.

About the manufacturer
Ca'Marcanda is a Gaja family project in the Bolgheri region, launched in 1996 when the legendary Angelo Gaja decided to leave his native Piedmont and seek new opportunities in Tuscany. The name "Ca'Marcanda" in the local dialect means "house of dreams" or "house of endless negotiations" – this was the plot of land that Angelo Gaja long and persistently tried to acquire from its previous owners. Today, the estate covers about 120 hectares of vineyards and is one of the most important high-end producers in Bolgheri. Ca'Marcanda is the winery's flagship – the most prestigious cuvée, produced only from the best plots. It reflects the Gaja family's philosophy: combining the elegance of Bordeaux varietals with the character of the Bolgheri terroir and maintaining an Italian identity. The 2016 vintage is characterized by impeccable balance, deep concentration, and exceptional longevity, making it considered one of the best in this wine's history.
