The 2021 vintage in Yarra Valley was expressive – cool night temperatures and warm days allowed Chardonnay grapes to retain vibrant acidity while developing a more subtle aromatic profile. The aroma reveals notes of white peach, citrus zest, and green apple, accompanied by hints of brioche, vanilla, and light honey. On the palate, the wine is dry, medium-to-full-bodied, with soft acidity and a creamy texture. There is a gentle trace of spice and herbs, a light minerality, and warm oak notes, adding complexity to the wine. The finish is long, harmonious, and elegant, with a blend of fruit and aging nuances.

About the manufacturer

Giant Steps is a prestigious winery in the Yarra Valley region of Victoria, Australia, founded in 1997 by Philo Sexton, who sought to produce elegant and aromatic Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines in cool climate conditions. The winery pays close attention to the specifics of the individual plots – Sexton, Applejack, Tarraford and Primavera – so that each wine reveals its terroir. Since 2003, Steve Flamsteed has joined the team, helping to create Single Vineyard wines that are characterized by delicate structure, pure fruitiness and refreshing acidity. Over more than twenty years, Giant Steps has become an international benchmark, recognized for elegance, expression of terroir and textural, long-lasting wines.
Steve Flamsteed is the Chief Winemaker at Giant Steps Winery, having joined the team in 2003. He is responsible for creating the iconic Single Vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines, aiming to reveal the unique terroir of each plot. Steve’s approach is based on precision, careful fruit selection and minimal intervention in the cellar to maintain elegance, aroma and structure. His work has helped Giant Steps Winery become an international benchmark in the Australian wine world, and the wines he produces are characterized by delicate fruitiness, long-lasting texture and strong regional character.
