The aroma is dominated by ripe cherries, plums, blackberries, and blueberries, along with notes of violets, white pepper, cinnamon, and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, the wine is rich yet very silky – Grenache provides a sweet fruit sensation, Syrah adds spice and structure, and Carignan brings freshness. The aftertaste reveals menthol and resinous herbal tones, which are very characteristic of the climate of Southern France.

About the manufacturer
Jeff Carrel is one of the most famous contemporary consultants and winemakers in Southern France, renowned for his ability to create very drinkable, characterful, and excellent value-for-money wines. Early in his career, he worked with iconic names in Southern France such as Grange des Pères and Mas Daumas Gassac, later developing his own projects in the Languedoc region.
The name "Les Darons" means "the parents" or "the old generation" – a reference to the old Grenache vines that form the basis of this wine. Jeff Carrel's philosophy is very clear: less technology, more regional character, fruit, and drinkability. His wines are often rich and Southern in style, yet they retain freshness and balance, which is why "Les Darons" has become one of the most popular examples of modern Languedoc style.
