This whisky was aged for six years in a single cask. Importantly, the distillate itself is not peated; the smokiness comes from the cask, which previously held peated whisky. As a result, the smoke notes are subtle and elegant, not overpowering the characteristic fruitiness of Kingsbarns. The whisky is bottled at natural color, non-chill filtered, and in a very limited edition.
About the manufacturer
Kingsbarns Distillery is one of Scotland's youngest and fastest-growing distilleries. It was founded in 2014 near the historic town of St Andrews in the Fife region, in a former 18th-century farm building. The project was initiated by former golf professional Douglas Clement, who aimed to bring whisky production back to the Fife region after more than a century-long hiatus. The distillery is renowned for its exceptionally light, fruity, and elegant Lowlands style. Kingsbarns uses local Fife barley and places great emphasis on a gentle distillation process, which preserves the fruity and floral spirit. Despite its young age, the distillery has quickly gained international recognition for its meticulous approach to quality and its ability to create modern, yet tradition-based, Scotch single malt whiskies.
