Krug Grande Cuvée 172ᵉ Édition is one of the legendary interpretations of non-vintage champagne, distinguished by its complexity, harmony and rich spectrum of aromas. This edition is the 172nd version since Krug began developing its unique Grande Cuvée concept: combining wines from many years to create an expressive, always familiar, yet always new style of champagne.

The aroma reveals ripe fruits – ripe pears, dried apricots, citrus peel – along with nuances of brioche, honey, almonds and soft spices. The taste is dry ( Brut ), with a very refined, creamy texture and very fine, long-lasting effervescence. A delicate mineral foundation intertwines with complex aromas, providing a balance between elegance and depth. The aftertaste is long, harmonious and memorably expressive – this is a champagne that invites you to savor it slowly and discover new nuances with each sip.

About the manufacturer

Krug was founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug, who wanted to create a champagne that was not about the year, but about the mastery of taste and the complexity of aromas. The philosophy of the house is based on three principles: each bottle must reflect the highest quality, maintain an exceptional depth of aromas and be a lasting work of art. Unlike most Champagne producers, Krug does not look at wine only as a vintage product - they combine dozens of wines from different years, mature them for a long time with yeast and partly in oak barrels, aiming to create a complex, multi-layered and constantly evolving champagne. This is a house where champagne is not just a drink, but also an experience, a constant journey through the world of taste.
Krug’s current Cellar Master is Julie Cavil, one of the first women to hold this prestigious role in Champagne history. She is responsible for the creation of each Grande Cuvée – combining wines from different years, overseeing fermentation, ageing on the lees and ensuring that each release is in keeping with the Krug style: rich, complex and delicate. Julie’s mastery is not only technical, but also artistic: each bottle must maintain a harmonious balance between fruit, minerality and creamy texture, while conveying the house’s long tradition and spirit of evolution.
