The aroma is dominated by ripe cherries, blackcurrants, plums, and dried herbs, along with leather, tobacco, cedar, cocoa, and delicate spices. With age, nuances of forest floor, dried leaves, and menthol also emerge. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, structured, with still lively but softened tannins and a good backbone of acidity. The taste combines dark fruits, spices, earthiness, and subtle oak integration. The finish is long, dry, and very elegant.

About the manufacturer

La Spinetta Casanova della Spinetta is the Tuscan branch of the famous Rivetti family from Piedmont, established in the hills of Terricciola between Pisa and Volterra. This estate was created to showcase the potential of the Tuscan coast and hills: here, significant attention is paid to Vermentino and Sangiovese varieties, grown in sandy, calcareous, and marine-origin soils. The winery is modern but highly focused on expressing the terroir – low yields, meticulous work in the vineyards, and a clean, precise style dominated by freshness, minerality, and fruit purity.
The main winemaker is Giorgio Rivetti – one of the most influential figures in modern Italian wine. He made La Spinetta famous in Piedmont (Barbaresco, Barolo) with powerful, intense, yet technically precise wines, and later expanded his vision to Tuscany. His style is based on highly controlled viticulture, low yields, and a clear idea: the wine must be expressive, concentrated, but also elegant and "clean." Here, Vermentino is interpreted not as a simple everyday white wine, but as a structured, mineral, and gastronomic reflection of the Tuscan coast.
