The aroma is dominated by plums, black cherries, blackberries, and ripe dark fruits, complemented by notes of ginger, vanilla, and sweet spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, warm, and velvety, with soft tannins and a ripe fruit character. The taste reveals plum jam, dark chocolate, liquorice, and a light tobacco tone. The finish is long, rich, and very typical of Manduria style Primitivo.

About the manufacturer
Leone de Castris is one of Apulia's most historically important wineries, founded in 1665 when Oronzo Arcangelo Maria Francesco dei Conti de Lemos arrived in the Salento region. It is one of the oldest family-owned wineries in Southern Italy, shaping the identity of local winemaking for over three centuries. Leone de Castris gained particular renown in the 20th century when it created the legendary "Five Roses" – the first bottled rosé wine in Italy, which became a symbol of the entire region. Today, the winery is led by Piernicola Leone de Castris, who continues the family traditions, blending historical heritage with modern oenology. Their philosophy is based on cultivating indigenous Apulian varieties – especially Negroamaro, Primitivo, and Malvasia Nera. Salice Salentino Riserva is one of their classic wines, reflecting the character of Negroamaro: sunny, rich, spicy, while maintaining an elegant structure and longevity.
