The aroma of this wine is intense: it is dominated by black cherries, blackberries, plums, and blackcurrants, along with violets, black pepper, liquorice, smoke, and a light toasted earth/stone note. On the palate, it is full, rich, and powerful, with firm yet ripe tannins, bright fruit concentration, and warm spices. The finish is long, somewhat "stony," with a combination of black fruit, pepper, and mineral tension, reflecting the granitic soils of Lesquerde.

About the manufacturer
M. Chapoutier is one of the most famous wineries in the Rhône Valley and Southern France, founded in 1879 in Tain-l’Hermitage. Today, Michel Chapoutier is considered one of the most important pioneers of biodynamic winemaking in France. "Domaine de Bila-Haut" is his project in the Roussillon region, designed to showcase the potential of this hot, yet high-altitude, terroir. "L'Esquerda" is one of the more structured wines from this estate, often compared to Northern Rhône Syrah due to its mineral tension and spicy character.
