Strawberries, raspberries, cherries, and red currants dominate, along with light floral notes and citrus zest. Subtle hints of brioche, yeast, and baked goods provide depth in the background. On the palate, the wine is lively yet rounded – the fruitiness of red berries is balanced by gentle acidity and a creamy texture. The finish is dry, with a slight minerality and a purity of red fruits. "Mareuil Rouge" is not a specific grape variety. It refers to a rare, red wine (Coteaux Champenois) produced in the Premier Cru village of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, in the Champagne region. It is made from 100% Pinot Noir (or sometimes Pinot Meunier) grapes.

About the manufacturer

Marc Hébrart is a family-owned champagne producer located in the village of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ in the Champagne region, considered one of the strongest Pinot Noir terroir centers. The house was founded in the 1960s by Marc Hébrart, and today it is continued by his son Jean-Paul Hébrart, who shapes a modern yet very terroir-loyal style. The philosophy is based on the principle that champagne must be a direct expression of the vineyard: therefore, they work with high-quality Premier Cru and Grand Cru plots, limit the level of intervention in the cellar, and aim to maintain natural fruitiness and structure. Hébrart's style is often described as "Pinot Noir energy with Champagne elegance"—the wines are intense but not heavy, with a pronounced red fruit character, a good line of acidity, and subtle yeasty aging. The Mareuil-sur-Aÿ terroir, in particular, gives their champagnes depth, power, and a mineral backbone, making these wines often more gastronomic than light aperitifs. This is a house that balances tradition and modern precision, maintaining a very clear local identity in every bottle.
