Marqués de Vargas is a prestigious Rioja Alta winery, founded in 1989 in the Logroño region, yet built upon four generations of family wine tradition dating back to 1840. The winery was born from the de la Mata family's vision to revive and continue the legacy of the old Pradolagar estate vineyards, where vines have been planted for almost two centuries. From the very beginning, the project was inspired by French "château" principles – wines are made exclusively from the estate's own vineyards surrounding the winery, ensuring complete terroir control and a consistent quality style. Today, Marqués de Vargas manages approximately 50–70 hectares of vineyards, divided into numerous plots according to soil and microclimate. The estate operates sustainably, without herbicides or pesticides, and each plot is vinified separately to highlight its local character. Aging takes place in French oak barrels, with the ultimate goal being elegant, structured, and long-lived Rioja wines that combine classical tradition with modern precision.
