The aroma reveals cherry compote, plum jam, raisins, and fruits in syrup, complemented by dried violets, black bread, cocoa, vanilla, and sweet spices. On the palate, the wine is sweet, rich, and velvety in texture, yet perfectly balanced by a refreshing acidity, so it doesn't feel heavy. The taste is dominated by cherries, dried plums, dark chocolate, and spices, with fruit and cocoa notes lingering in the long finish.

Recioto della Valpolicella is considered the precursor to Amarone. Even before Amarone emerged, Valpolicella winemakers produced sweet Recioto from dried grapes, and Amarone was born as a "happy mistake" when fermentation did not stop and all the sugar turned into alcohol. Therefore, Recioto is still considered one of the most historic and prestigious categories of Veneto dessert wines.

About the manufacturer

Masi Agricola is one of the most famous and historically significant wineries in the Veneto region, with roots dating back to 1772. For over 250 years, the Boscaini family has nurtured winemaking traditions in the Valpolicella region, and today the winery is managed by the seventh generation of the family. The Masi name has become inseparable from Amarone della Valpolicella and the traditional appassimento method, where a portion of the grapes are dried before fermentation to create wines of greater concentration and complexity. Over the decades, Masi has become one of Italy's most important wine ambassadors worldwide, exporting its wines to over 100 countries.
Masi's philosophy is based on the principle of "innovation through tradition." The winery invests heavily in scientific research, the preservation of indigenous grape varieties, and sustainable agriculture, while maintaining a deep connection to the winemaking heritage of Veneto. The Boscaini family believes that the best wines are born when technology is used not to replace the terroir, but to help it express itself. Although Masi is most famous for Amarone, their projects in other Italian regions, such as Lugana, also reflect the ambition to create elegant, authentic wines that accurately convey their origin.
