Merum Priorati is a project of the Pere Ventura family in Priorat, established to reveal the character of one of Catalonia's most complex wine regions. The winery works with its own vineyards around the village of Porrera – one of the most highly regarded areas in Priorat. Here, vines grow on the famous llicorella – fractured slate – soil, which is extremely poor and forces the vines to send their roots deep into the rock. Destí is Merum Priorati's flagship and prestigious wine, created to convey the classic Priorat character: the concentration of old Garnacha and Cariñena vines, the ripeness of the warm Mediterranean climate, and the minerality provided by llicorella. The winery's philosophy is focused on an elegant, precise, and terroir-driven interpretation of Priorat.
