Penfolds Bin 128 Coonawarra Shiraz 2019 is one of the region’s most expressive Shiraz wines, originating from Coonawarra in South Australia – a place renowned for its red terra rossa soils and cool night-time temperature changes that allow the grapes to ripen slowly, maintaining acidity and concentration. 2019 was a favourable year for Shiraz grapes in the Coonawarra region – warm days ripened the crop ideally, while cool nights helped to maintain the purity and structure of the aromas. The aromas reveal ripe black and red berries – blackberries, cherries, plums – along with subtle spices, vanilla, light smoke and chocolate notes. In the mouth, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with soft, well-ripened tannins, rich fruitiness and a long aftertaste, revealing the Coonawarra terroir and Shiraz character – elegant, structured and concentrated, but always balanced.
