A classic Barolo where elegance meets power. The aroma reveals ripe cherries, raspberries, dried roses, liquorice, tobacco, and subtle notes of leather and forest floor. The taste is concentrated yet harmonious – firm, fine tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, mineral finish give the wine exceptional longevity. Although its refined character is already evident, this Barolo will undoubtedly continue to evolve for many years.

The 2019 vintage is considered one of the strongest in the Barolo region over the past decade. The growing season was long and even – without extreme heatwaves or spring frosts, and sufficient rainfall allowed Nebbiolo grapes to ripen slowly and consistently. Due to a late harvest, the berries retained an excellent balance of acidity, tannins, and aromas, making 2019 Barolo stand out for its elegance, structure, and exceptional aging potential.

About the manufacturer

Established in Alba in 1881, Pio Cesare is one of the most important historic wineries in the Barolo region. Five generations of the family have nurtured the same philosophy – to create classic Piedmont wines that primarily reflect the terroir, rather than winemaking trends. Today, the winery is led by the fifth-generation representative Federica Boffa, who continues the family traditions after the legendary Pio Boffa. The chief winemaker and long-standing technical director is Paolo Fenocchio, whose approach is based on minimal intervention in the winemaking process, careful vinification of different plots, and respect for the distinctiveness of each vintage. The grapes for this Barolo are harvested from family-owned plots in various prestigious Barolo communes – Serralunga d'Alba, La Morra, Monforte d'Alba, Grinzane Cavour, and Novello. Such a combination of different terroirs allows for the creation of an exceptionally complex and balanced Barolo, which has been considered one of the benchmark wines of this region for over a century.
