Pol Roger is one of the most prestigious Champagne houses, founded in 1849 in Épernay, in the Champagne region. This house is distinguished by an exceptionally classic, "British elegant" style – a clean, precise, refined champagne that emphasizes balance and structure. Pol Roger remains an independent, family-owned company to this day, renowned for its long aging in underground chalk cellars, which lend the wines subtlety, a fine bubble texture, and exceptional elegance. It is one of those Champagne houses that has consistently maintained a traditional style, not chasing trends, but rather perfecting the classic expression of champagne.
Winston Churchill was for a long time inextricably linked with Pol Roger – his love for this champagne began in the early 20th century and continued throughout his life. He was considered one of Pol Roger's most loyal fans, and this champagne became part of his daily life and important historical moments – even during World War II, he chose it as a drink of "celebration and solace." After meeting Odette Pol Roger in Paris in 1944, their connection with the house strengthened even further, transforming into a story not only of a client but also of a personal friendship. It is estimated that Churchill may have drunk thousands of bottles of Pol Roger in his lifetime, and this story became so significant that after his death, the house even honored him with a special cuvée – "Sir Winston Churchill" – as a symbol of lasting respect and shared history.
