2019 was a warm and rather concentrated vintage in Napa Valley, resulting in a wine with an intense, mature, and very expressive style. The aroma is dominated by black cherries, blackberries, plums, and blueberry jam, alongside vanilla, cocoa, caramel, and spice notes from the oak. On the palate, the wine is dry, full-bodied, with soft but dense tannins and a rich, "jammy" fruit texture. The finish is long, warm, with hints of chocolate and spice.

About the manufacturer
The name “The Prisoner” comes from Francisco Goya’s 19th-century etching “El Prisionero” (English: “The Prisoner”), which depicts a person confined and isolated. This image was chosen as a symbol of breaking traditions in Californian winemaking – the wine was created as a bold, untraditional red blend that does not adhere to classical European order.
Interesting fact:
This wine is recognizable in pop culture – actor Sebastian Stan has been captured on video singing and opening a bottle of "The Prisoner," further reinforcing this wine's modern image and connection to pop culture.
