The wine’s aroma is very clean and layered, dominated by lemon, orange blossom, pear, and a subtle hint of yellow apples and stone fruit, which then transitions into a delicate nuance of honey, quince, and light wax. In the mouth, it is dry, lively, and extremely fresh, with a bright yet well-integrated acidity that gives the wine tension and "straightness." The fruit profile remains clean – lemon zest, green apple, pear, and a touch of tropical fruitiness, but everything is underpinned by a mineral, slightly saline backbone. The texture is medium-bodied, somewhat creamy from contact with the lees, and the finish reveals a long, dry, almost stony aftertaste that maintains a balance of freshness and depth.

About the manufacturer

Reyneke Wines is one of the first wineries in South Africa to systematically transition to certified biodynamic viticulture, and the core of its philosophy is the idea that wine is an expression of a living ecosystem, not just an agricultural product. Located in the Stellenbosch region, the farm has aimed from the outset to work as closely as possible with nature's cycles: synthetic pesticides or herbicides are not used, and soil vitality is maintained through compost, animal integration, and natural preparations based on Rudolf Steiner's biodynamic philosophy. The essence of this winery is to maximize the expression of terroir purity. Vineyards are treated as a self-sustaining ecosystem where soil, plants, animals, and cosmic cycles function as one system. Winemaking also adheres to the principle of minimal intervention: fermentations often occur with native yeasts, and oak is used sparingly so as not to distort the expression of the grapes and soil. Reyneke is considered one of the benchmarks of biodynamic winemaking in South Africa – its style is characterized by purity, energy, and a clear sense of "aliveness" that stems from the soil, not technology.
