2018 in South Australia was a balanced year – warmer days and cool night temperatures allowed the berries to retain aromatic intensity and good acid structure. Norwood is a rich, aromatic and well-balanced blend, where Shiraz provides dark, black fruit aromas, spices and a gentle peppery character, while Cabernet Sauvignon contributes structure, tannins and dark currant, plum and smoky graphite tones. On the palate, the wine is dry, full-bodied, with firm yet elegant tannins and a well-integrated acid profile that balances the rich fruitiness and oak nuances. The finish is long, harmonious, with a lingering harmony of spices and dark berries.

About the manufacturer
One of Bert Salomon's dreams was to have a good selection of red wines alongside the white wines produced at the family winery "Salomon Undhof" in Austria's Kremstal region. This dream came true in far-off Australia, which Bert fell in love with in the 1960s when he was on the board of directors at the wine import company "Schlumberger." Thanks to him, Australian wine was imported into Austria for the first time. Incidentally, at that time, B. Salomon was one of the directors of the Austrian Wine Institute. He realized his big dream in 1995 when he acquired the "Salomon Estate" winery in the Finniss River region, about 50 kilometers from Adelaide. The most interesting part is that in 1866, Johann Nepomuk Hinteröcker, a descendant of the Salomon family, emigrated from Austria's Wachau region to Australia. After four years of working at the "Seven Hills" winery (in the Clare Valley) in Norwood, a suburb of Adelaide, he founded St. Ignatius College. Who could have known that more than a hundred years later, Salomon's descendants would return to Australia and once again cultivate grapes?
