This South African Pinot Noir opens subtly and expressively – the aromas are dominated by a fresh red berry profile with notes of cherry and redcurrant, complemented by delicate floral hints, earthy nuances, and a touch of spice. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, with refreshing acidity and gentle, fine tannins that provide structure while maintaining elegance and lightness. The taste reveals rich red fruits, a subtle mineral undertone, and a delicate spicy finish, which gives the wine a long and harmonious ending with a sense of freshness and a clear sense of place from the slopes of the Elandskloof vineyard.

About the manufacturer
Jessica Saurwein is a South African winemaker whose winery, Saurwein Wines, is located in the Elgin region. Her family name has deep roots: in the 17th century, her ancestors in Austria produced "sour wine" for the emperor. This tradition inspired Jessica to pursue the production of top-quality wines and revive the family's wine reputation. After gaining international experience in vineyards and earning a Bachelor's degree in Oenology and Viticulture from Stellenbosch University, she started her winery in 2015.
Jessica works with four cool-climate vineyards: Elandskloof, Hemel-en-Aarde, Elgin, and Stanford. Her approach to winemaking is minimal intervention: little manipulation, much attention to nature and terroir expression. She aims for the wines to convey the energy and harmony of the place. Currently, she and her family are developing a polyculture farm in Stanford, applying regenerative agriculture principles and planning vineyard planting and the expansion of the winemaking process.
