The 2020 Agrelo vintage was characterized by warm, sunny weather but with cooler nights, which allowed the grapes to reach full ripeness while retaining acidity and structure. These conditions gave the wine an intense yet balanced character. The aroma is dominated by dark fruits – plums, blackberries, blackcurrants – along with violets, cocoa, coffee, tobacco, and a light hint of toasted oak. On the palate, the wine is dry, full-bodied, with firm yet elegant tannins and a good line of acidity that balances the rich fruitiness. The finish is long, with notes of dark berries, chocolate, and spices.
About the manufacturer
This wine is made by Susana Balbo, the first female oenologist in Argentina and one of the country’s most influential winemakers. She is known as the “Queen of Torrontés” for her contributions to the development of the variety’s structure and elegance. Her Dominio del Plata winery is based on principles of sustainability, innovation and the desire to create wine that conveys the terroir characteristic of Argentina and the spirit of its wine heritage. The philosophy is a young, lively, sincere wine (the “Crios” line translates to “offspring/childhood”) – lovingly aged by hand and with respect for the origin of the grapes.
