The 2020 vintage in Valle de Uco was considered quite challenging but very beneficial for quality – the high-altitude climate with hot days and very cool nights helped maintain bright acidity, aromatic precision, and a good tannic structure. Such conditions gave the Malbec wine more elegance than mere power.
The aroma is dominated by black plums, blackberries, and blueberries, along with violets, cocoa, subtle oak, spices, and a hint of minerality.
On the palate, the wine is dry, medium-to-full-bodied, with soft but well-integrated tannins and lively acidity that balances the rich fruitiness. The texture is smooth, "silky." The finish is long, with notes of dark berries, cocoa, and subtle spice.
About the manufacturer
This wine is made by Susana Balbo, the first female oenologist in Argentina and one of the country’s most influential winemakers. She is known as the “Queen of Torrontés” for her contributions to the development of the variety’s structure and elegance. Her Dominio del Plata winery is based on principles of sustainability, innovation and the desire to create wine that conveys the terroir characteristic of Argentina and the spirit of its wine heritage. The philosophy is a young, lively, sincere wine (the “Crios” line translates to “offspring/childhood”) – lovingly aged by hand and with respect for the origin of the grapes.
