The name "Tecuan" is associated with the Nahuatl word "Tecuani," meaning jaguar – an animal historically linked to the Guerrero and Michoacán regions. This mezcal reflects the Guerrero tradition, where Agave cupreata is one of the most important local agave species. The mezcal production method – roasting in an underground oven, natural fermentation, and distillation in copper stills – gives the drink its characteristic smoky, earthy, and cooked agave profile.
