The aroma reveals wild strawberries, sour cherries, red currants, dried roses, violet flowers, liquorice, spices, and subtle smoky and graphite notes. The taste is refined and complex – silky tannins, vibrant acidity, minerality, and a long, slightly saline aftertaste create a wine often compared to top-tier Burgundy Pinot Noir or Barolo due to its lightness, structure, and ability to convey terroir. The 2019 vintage is characterized by an excellent balance between concentration and elegance and was highly praised by critics.

About the manufacturer
Tenuta delle Terre Nere is one of the most important wineries in modern Etna winemaking, founded by Marco de Grazia in the early 2000s. The winery is located on the northern slope of Etna, near Randazzo, a region now considered one of Italy's most interesting terroirs. Marco de Grazia, who previously worked with top-class Burgundy wines, viewed Etna as Italy's answer to the Burgundy climat system – small territories (contrade) have completely different characteristics.
San Lorenzo is one of the winery's Grand Cru / Contrada vineyards. It is located in the Randazzo area, on the northern side of Etna, at an altitude of about 750 m, on almost pure volcanic ash and lava soil. Some of the vines are over 70 years old, and due to the cold microclimate and volcanic terroir, the wine is characterised by unusual freshness, minerality, and longevity.
