Viña Real is one of the most important wineries in Rioja Alavesa, belonging to the legendary CVNE group, founded in 1879 in Haro. The name "Viña Real" first appeared in 1920, when CVNE decided to produce wines from the Rioja Alavesa region, where a cooler climate and calcareous soils allow for a more elegant, refined Tempranillo style. In 2004, an impressive new Viña Real winery was opened in the town of Laguardia, designed to blend naturally into the hillside landscape. Tunnels carved into the rock beneath the winery are used for aging barrels and bottles under ideal conditions. Viña Real's philosophy is to combine traditional Rioja winemaking with modern precision, creating wines characterized not by power, but by elegance, freshness, and the expression of terroir.
