Weingut Knoll, officially Emmerich Knoll, is one of the most famous and respected wineries in Wachau. The family winery is located in the village of Unterloiben, and its wines are recognizable by one of Austria's most famous wine labels – a Baroque image of St. Urban, the patron saint of vineyards. The Knoll family focuses primarily on Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, and their wines are characterized not by modern, fruity lightness, but by the classic Wachau style: concentration, spiciness, minerality, and the ability to age for a long time.
