A richer, more mature style of Grüner Veltliner, combining ripe yellow fruit character with spiciness and minerality. The aroma reveals yellow apples, ripe stone fruits, exotic fruits, and herbs. The taste is dry, round, and textured, with good acidity, characteristic white pepper spice, and a long, mineral finish. The 2021 vintage was particularly successful – the warmth gave the wine ripeness and concentration, while a cooler, dry harvest period helped preserve acidity and freshness.

About the manufacturer

Wimmer-Czerny is a family winery in the village of Fels am Wagram, whose farming history dates back to the 18th century. The family has been biodynamically cultivating their vineyards since 2005 and is Demeter certified. The winery owns about 15 hectares of vineyards, with a primary focus on Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, and the regional Wagram specialty – Roter Veltliner. Weelfel is one of their more important Riesling wines, made from higher-altitude vineyard plots with stony and sandy soils. This location gives the wine more freshness, mineral character, and structure. Wimmer-Czerny winemaking is based on manual labor, natural yeasts, longer contact with lees, and minimal intervention in the cellar.
